What sticker formats does Telegram support and what are the limits?

Telegram has three sticker formats. Animated stickers from text export as TGS (gzipped Lottie JSON) up to 64 KB. Photo stickers use static WEBP up to 512 KB. Video stickers use WEBM (VP9), up to 256 KB and 3 seconds. SticKit shows the live size in every mode and warns before you exceed the limit.

Fonts and animations apply to text-mode stickers and to optional photo captions.

Where do photo and video sources come from?

Both modes accept your own files. They also have built-in search — Pexels for photos and short clips, Giphy for animated reactions. Anything you pick is fetched, converted and trimmed inside the browser before upload.

Animated · 64 KB (TGS)

Text-mode stickers export as animated TGS — gzipped Lottie JSON. Telegram rejects files larger than 64 KB; SticKit shows the live size and warns before you exceed it.

Photo · 512 KB (WEBP)

Photo-mode stickers are 512×512 static WEBP images, capped at 512 KB by Telegram. SticKit crops, encodes and compresses your source image automatically.

Video · 256 KB & 3 sec (WEBM)

Video-mode stickers are short looping clips encoded as WEBM (VP9). Telegram caps them at 3 seconds and 256 KB. Trimming and re-encoding happens in the browser on every change.
